Mosquito Sample Tests Positive For West Nile
Announcement from Friday comes on the heels of several other positive tests earlier in the summer.
The Lynnfield Board of Health reports that a mosquito sample in town tested positive for West Nile Virus last week.
The test result was reported on Friday, with a note that spraying is not planned at this time. The mosquito season is rapidly winding down in the region, but risk for mosquito-borne illness remains until the first hard frost, added the board of health.
Another note about this time of the season is that older mosquitoes are more likely to carry the virus, added the announcement.

The report also noted that West Nile-infected mosquitoes are present throughout the state and are not just located in towns where tests have come up positive.
Earlier this summer, at least three other mosquito samples came up positive for West Nile Virus, which led to spraying in some parts of town.
