ReplyPlease don't forget Dr. Martin Herrick who is also buried on South Common St. He got virtually no recognition for his efforts to get the word out that the Regulars were coming. According to the quote, "When Paul Revere rode, he went in the other direction". He was a graduate of the class of 1772 from Harvard, where he obtained his M.D. Dr. Martin Herrick died on July 10, 1820, at 73 years of age.

ReplyI stand corrected. Thank you Captain Grady for the information. I could find nothing in our archives so I went to Officer Charles Peabody. As the most senior member of the department, I thought he would be a good source. He couldn't recall the department ever having a motorcycle. Thanks again Captain and I hope all is well.

ReplyAngry Dave,
I don't think you understood the story correctly. There is absolutely no risk to the taxpayers. Kelly has guaranteed to fully fund the motorcycle. We are not buying the motorcycle, we are leasing it. Therefore, the figures you cited are incorrect. Motorcycles are an invaluable tool for traffic enforcement. Many municiplaities use them 12 months a year. Peabody has two on the road today. Please call me if you would like to discuss this in further. I will be happy to explain the benefits of this partnership. Thank you.
