Volunteers with the town tree committee are focused on keeping Lynnfield beautiful and protecting one of its great natural resources.
The Lynnfield Tree Committee recently sent out its annual spring newsletter to town residents. This is one of several entities in town that exists to help beautify Lynnfield. Committee Chair Jane Bandini provided this note to those who would like to learn more or get involved: The committee continues its efforts to educate the community about the environmental importance of Lynnfield's trees which provide cleaner air, decreased noise, climate control and flood prevention. In this issue we explain how trees influence the immediate weather on your property and how you can help trees in their struggle to survive our quickly changing ecosystem. August 20, 2012 Letter To the Editor, The Lynnfield Conservation Commission would like to thank the Lynnfield Tree Committee members, Beth Aaronson, Jane Bandini, and Alison McKendree, for their informative Spring 2012 Tree Talk Newsletter. The newsletter, which was included in the Spring tax bill mailing, described how crucial trees are to Lynnfields' environment, how the October 2011 snowstorm impacted Lynnfield, and how fallen trees provide rich habitat for other plant and animal life. The following is an announcement from the Lynnfield Tree Committee: The Town of Lynnfield will celebrate Arbor Day on Saturday May 19 during the Geraniumfest at 11 a.m. on the Town Common. The public is invited to join members of the Board of Selectmen and the Lynnfield Tree Committee in a celebration of Arbor Day which will include a reading of the Arbor Day proclamation and the raising of a flag in recognition of Lynnfield as a Tree City USA. Lynnfield has again been given this award in recognition for providing vital care for its trees and for making planting and caring for trees a top priority.
