Many details remain to be finalized, but a gazebo may be on or near Lynnfield Common within a year. Nan Hockenbury, chair of the Lynnfield Historical Commission and the Lynnfield Historical Society, told Lynnfield Patch Monday that the gazebo was initially proposed several years ago and remains in its very early planning stages. Lynnfield selectmen reportedly voted Monday night to have the project go forward, she added. The Lynnfield Rotary has indicated that it will provide financial support for the project - with the costs primarily limited to the building materials. Students at North Shore Technical High School in Middleton and Northeast Metropolitan Regional Vocational School in Wakefield could do the design and building work, added …

Rotary Interact Club at Lynnfield High School started in 2010 to focus on helping the community.
Students at Lynnfield High School have various options if they want to get involved with volunteer work and community service - one of them being the Rotary Interact Club, which is heading into its third school year in town. Town residents likely saw members of the Interact Club this summer organizing the Horribles Parade in mid-July, to name one recent event. According to Baylee Priestley, an incoming LHS junior who will serve as club president this year, members are already planning to participate in the Buddy Walk for muscular dystrophy this October in Wakefield, as well as the Polar Plunge, which is an annual Rotary event that raises funds to fight polio, and a possible Halloween event. Pastor at Centre Congregational Church named Lynnfield Rotary's Citizen of the Year for community contributions, including organizing 9/11 memorial last fall.
In an email conversation with Lynnfield Patch this week, Reverend Dennis Bailey said that he was "very honored and surprised" to be named the Lynnfield Rotary's Citizen of the Year. Many of Bailey's parishioners at Centre Congregational Church were on hand to see him receive the award at Teresa's in Middleton. Also on hand were Lynnfield Fire Chief Joe Lingel and Deputy Chief Glenn Davis, as well as Katherine Bailey, widow of Ace Bailey, a former Lynnfielder and NHL player who was killed in the 9/11 attacks. Last year's Rotary Citizen of the Year, Lorraine Sacco, was also in attendance with her husband Gene. They organize Reid's Ride, in memory of their son, Reid Sacco, and just last Sunday raised almost $150,000 for youth cancer research…

The Lynnfield Rotary named Reverend Dennis Bailey its Citizen of the Year this week. Bailey, the pastor of the Centre Congregational Church, was particularly honored for his work in organizing the 9/11 memorial activities last fall on Lynnfield Common. "I've got a dream job, in a dream town," said Bailey upon receiving the award. "I'm very fortunate to have so many people who are so encouraging and supportive." Bailey also received a proclamation in honor of his award from the state legislature, which was filed by Lynnfield's two state representatives, Brad Jones, Jr. and Donald Wong. Heading into the evening, Bailey was unaware that he was set to receive the citizen of the year award. Otherwise, he was simply joining Selectman Dave Nelson…
