Girl Scout Troop Holding Peeps Diorama Contest

Dioramas featuring the popular colorful marshmallow treats will be on display at LHS the night of the Lynnfield Idol final.

The following was provided by Lynnfield Senior Girl Scout Troop 60071: Lynnfield Senior Girl Scout Troop 60071 is pleased to announce a Peeps Diorama Contest, which will be held in the lobby of the Lynnfield High School prior to the finals of this year’s Lynnfield Idol Competition. Community members of all ages, shapes and sizes are invited to participate.  The contest winner will be the ‘peep-le’s choice’ diorama, chosen by popular vote of those viewing the dioramas. The rules of the competition are: The winning diorama will be announced at the end of the Lynnfield Idol Competition, and a ‘Golden Peep’ will be awarded to the contest winner.  May the best Peeps win!!

Local Scouts Deliver Hurricane Relief To Staten Island

Troop 48 and other area members of the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts helped send a truckload of hurricane relief to those still suffering in the New York City area.

The following was provided by Boy Scout Troop 48 Scoutmaster Gordon Forrest of Lynnfield:  Over the past week, Boy Scout Troop 48 Lynnfield, along with our friends from the Lynnfield Girl Scouts and Boy Scout Troop 750 North Reading and Boy Scout Troop 119 Peabody, staffed a donation trailer at the Lynnfield Middle School for over 160 man hours during the week, gathering donated items for those impacted by Hurricane Sandy in Staten Island, NY. This past Saturday, November 17, nine of our older Scouts, myself and two other dads, gathered early and traveled to the Calvary Presbyterian Church on Staten Island where we met with representatives from Boy Scout Troop 19. Lynnfield Girl Scouts Receive Gold Award

The following is an announcement from Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts: Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts is proud to announce that Lynnfield Girl Scouts Carleen Craffey and Kaitlin McKenzie received their Girl Scout Gold Award pins on Wednesday, June 20 at a ceremony at the Boxborough Holiday Inn. The event was attended by family, friends and Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts' CEO, Ruth N. Bramson, and Board President, Peggy Stevens. The Girl Scout Gold Award is the highest award that a Girl Scout can achieve, and it recognizes a service project that fulfills a need within a girl's community whether local or global, creates change, and becomes ongoing. PHOTOS: Girl Scout Bridging Ceremony

179 Girl Scouts participated in annual bridging ceremony Tuesday night. Carly Craffey and Ava Landry earn Gold awards.

As their proud parents and some local officials looked on, 179 Lynnfield Girl Scouts participated in their annual Bridging ceremony Tuesday night at the Lynnfield Middle School. A total of four Daisy troops, five Brownie troops, five Junior troops, two Cadette troops and a senior troop participated, with members basically moving along to a new level. House Republican Leader Brad Jones, who represents Lynnfield on Beacon Hill, was at the ceremony and presented the girls with citations from the State Legislature. Selectman Dave Nelson gave them proclamations from the town as well. "I think it's a testament to every one of your dedication, your determination and your pride," Nelson told the girls. Troop held fundraising event on Lynnfield Common for local animal shelters,

Girl Scout Troop 60186 raised money for local animal shelters on Saturday by holding a dog show on the Lynnfield Common. Dozens of town residents were on hand to socialize, show off their dogs, and to check out a canine demonstration by two area law enforcement personnel. Many also brought items to drop off for animal shelters. The event drew a fairly sizeable turnout and helped a good cause in the process. Check out this gallery of photos from Saturday!

This Saturday: Get Your Dog Out And About!

Lynnfield Girl Scout troop is holding a dog show Saturday, 12-2 p.m. on Lynnfield Common, to have some fun and to help raise money for local animal shelters.

This Saturday, March 31 from 12 to 2 p.m., stop by the Lynnfield Common and check out the dog show organized by Girl Scout Troop 60186 in Lynnfield to help raise money for animal shelters. Enter your dog in the show for just $5 - prizes donated by various local businesses will go to dogs winning categories that include best trick, most outspoken, wiggliest bum, and owner/dog lookalike. Dogs must be leashed and vaccinated and need to be checked in by 12:30 p.m. The raindate for the event is Saturday, April 7. Also, owners can get their dogs' nails done by a veterinary technician for $10, and Mike Citro from Baystate K-9 will provide a police dog training demonstration. Area Girl Scouts participated in Cookies For A Cause last weekend to send cookies to troops overseas.

Last week's Cookies For A Cause event at Hanscom Air Force Base drew Girl Scouts from around Eastern Massachusetts, including more than one troop from Lynnfield. In these two images, members of Girl Scout Troop 62047 are shown with Air Force personnel after delivering a number of donated boxes of cookies from town. In all, some 30,000 boxes of donated cookies from the Boston area are now making their way to U.S. troops serving overseas.

Girl Scouts Send Cookies To Troops Overseas

Lynnfield Girl Scouts helped support the Cookies For A Cause program, recently paid a visit to Hanscom Air Force Base.

Lynnfield Girl Scout Troop #66345 recently visited Hanscom Air Force Base in Bedford as part of the Cookies for a Cause program. About 1,500 Girl Scouts (GSEM) gathered to make cards for the troops, drink hot chocolate and join in a sing-a-long. Of the more than 2 million boxes sold across the Greater Boston area, 30,000 were donated to what has been dubbed "Operation Cookie Drop" and will be loaded on a plane and shipped overseas to eager troops.
