Rev. Dennis Bailey leads annual sunrise service at Newhall Park, 6:30 a.m. Sunday
The following was provided by Reverend Dennis Bailey: The public is welcome to attend the Fourth Annual Community Easter Sunrise Service at Newhall Park, Oak Street, Lynnfield, on the Little Field behind Bali Hai Restaurant, 93 Moulton Drive, Lynnfield. The 40 minute service, led by Rev. Dr. Dennis C. Bailey, Pastor, Centre Congregational Church, celebrates the Resurrection of Jesus Christ on Easter morning. It is a service of scripture, song, an Easter message, and the flowering of the cross with a variety of colored flowers. The cross is then placed in front of Centre Congregational Church, 5 Summer Street, Lynnfield for the public to enjoy. The Centre Congregational Church in Lynnfield is having its annual photos with the Easter Bunny fundraiser this Saturday morning, March 23 from 9 a.m. to noon. Children of all ages are welcome. Proceeds from this fundraiser go directly to the church.

Noel Smith and her musical students put on a funny concert each year to benefit a local nonprofit.
Professional singer and Lynnfield resident Noel Smith announced this week that she and her students are having their annual Musical Hysterics concert on Sunday, March 10th at 3 p.m. at Centre Congregational Church. All proceeds from the concert benefit Gathering Change, the local nonprofit that supports area food pantries by collecting thousands of dollars each year in donated pocket change. "The students perform Hysterically funny songs from various musical theatre shows etc. and it is just a funny funny concert. We donate all the money to the organization as well," said Smith in an email to Lynnfield Patch. Smith reports that she has 21 students in the show, ranging in age from 14 to their 30s. Centre Congregational Church holds its 2nd Pumpkin Patch event tomorrow - Saturday, October 20 - from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at its location on 5 Summer Street, next to the library. Pumpkins of all sizes will be for sale, and there will be a Moon Bounce for the kids, as well as many other activities. The holiday craft fair will also feature many hand-crafted and vendor items, such as Tastefully Simple and Pampered Chef. The event is rain or shine and will be going on at the same time the annual Friends of the Lynnfield Library book sale is taking place across the street in the Old Meeting House.

Pastor of Centre Congregational Church honored for his contributions to the community, including organizing last fall's 9/11 memorial activities.
The Lynnfield Rotary named Reverend Dennis Bailey its Citizen of the Year this week. Bailey, the pastor of the Centre Congregational Church, was particularly honored for his work in organizing the 9/11 memorial activities last fall on Lynnfield Common. "I've got a dream job, in a dream town," said Bailey upon receiving the award. "I'm very fortunate to have so many people who are so encouraging and supportive." Bailey also received a proclamation in honor of his award from the state legislature, which was filed by Lynnfield's two state representatives, Brad Jones, Jr. and Donald Wong. Centre Congregational Church has announced its annual golf tournament is Friday, June 8 with a 12:30 p.m. tee time at the Thomson Country Club in North Reading. Format is best ball and the cost is $125 per player, including greens fees, cart, and a dinner to be held at the church. Along with various prizes, the winning team gets its names engraved on “The Unholy Grail.” Those who would like to attend the dinner only, which features hamburgers, hot dogs, sausages and more, can get tickets for $25 for adults and $10 for children. Alyse Barbash, Director of Haven from Hunger in Peabody, with Jeff Langill of the outereach team at Centre Congregational Church. On May 12, Jeff presented Ms. Barbash with a donation of $1,000 from the church. A group of church members and friends then helped sort canned goods collected in the postal service's annual "Stamp out Hunger" food drive.
