Annual METCO Building Bridges Concert Is Feb. 13

Annual concert at Lynnfield Middle School highlights African American and African music and culture. Check out photo and video from past couple of years here.

The Lynnfield METCO program has announced that it's annual Building Bridges Through Art and Music concert is on Wednesday, February 13th at 7 p.m. this year. The concert, which highlights African-American and African music and culture, is held in the Lynnfield Middle School auditorium. The concert includes a mix of guest musicians and Lynnfield student musicians. "Lynnfield METCO Helping Hands members are involved in the planning and execution of this project.  This program works to bridge the Boston and Lynnfield communities through artistic expression.  The communities will share their commonalities through these expressions and learn about the beauty inherent in both cultures," wrote Lynnfield METCO Director Lelo Masamba in the …

VIDEO: Lynnfield's Building Bridges Concert

Annual METCO concert featured singers and musicians from LHS and LMS, plus African drummers and a New Orleans-style band.

The Lynnfield educational community came together for the annual METCO Building Bridges concert Thursday evening at the middle school. The Lynnfield Middle School Pioneer singers and the LHS Jazz Band and Chamber Singers joined the African music and dance group Rumbafrica and the Who Dat Band for a fun night that celebrated the world's diversity while delivering some great musical entertainment. Lelo Masamba, director of the Lynnfield METCO program, delivered the welcome remarks before the music got started. The audience also heard guest speaker James Jackson, a METCO student at Arlington High School who is president of his senior class.
