This Jack Russell Terrier is a Bundle of Energy in a Small Package

Jack the Jack Russell is Sweet and Loves People

Ok, I know you watch television.  So you think that all Jack Russell Terriers are movie stars don’t you?  Well, you are wrong, because I am a purebred JRT, and even with the name Jack, I am not a movie star.  I am just a regular little dog who is looking for a home.  I don’t yearn for Hollywood, or the bright lights of Broadway.  I just yearn for a warm bed, good food, people I can call my own, and lots and lots of stimulation. Yes, I think the reason we Jack Russell Terriers end up in the movies and on television is that we are very smart little dogs who are born to be hard workers.  Yes, indeed. We have bundles of energy despite our small size, and I am no exception.  We need safe spaces to run and lots of play time and things to do. …

Fluff and Wilhemina Adore People

Fluff and Her Daughter Wilhemina are Purrfect Kitties

Hello, my name is Fluff.  I know that is a silly name for a short-haired cat, but you know humans:  they give us cats the most ridiculous names sometimes.  And I guess, well, really, it could be worse.  I could have been called Kitty, or Tiger, or … well, you get the idea.  My daughter, on the other hand, has a nice, distinctive name: Wilhemina.  But, more on her later.  First, I think I should tell you how it is we came to be homeless.  For 15 wonderful years (13 for Wilhemina) we were cared for by a guy who loved us.  He gave us a home, fed us, and took us to the vet every year.  But, along came a winter storm and an untimely health situation, and our dad was taken from us.    Needless to say, we were devastated.  PAWS gave us a caring …

Marlie and Sadie, Two Sisters Who Bring Love and Calm to Your Home

Marlie and Sadie are Loving Sisters Who Want to Love You Too

Marlie and Sadie Are All About Love and Comfort Hi, my name is Marlie and I’m trying to find a perfect home for myself and my beloved sister, Sadie the calico.  I have to say, my dear sister has been crying her eyes out lately. She is very sad because, due to some very unfortunate timing, we could be the only PAWS Pet of the Week cats EVER (did I say EVER?) to get not one phone call after our story was published.  Sadie keeps asking me, “How can that be?”  So, I’ve tried to explain that the week when our story was featured was not the best one for us.  It was right after that terrible marathon tragedy and during the culminating events in Watertown.  “Sadie,” I keep telling her, “We are special.  It is just that the tragedy affected …

That's Sylvester, but not Stallone

Sylvester is all lover, not an ounce of fighter in him

Sylvester Is a Lover, Not a Fighter My name is Sylvester, but my last name is Reed, not Stallone.  While I think I have the charisma of a movie star, I would rather be the lead in a romantic comedy, not a bang ‘em up fighter flick like Rambo or Rocky.  I have the green eyes of a leading man so while I admit I look tough, at heart I am a lover, not a fighter.  Actually, that is an understatement.  I am a four-year-old fuzzy cuddle guy who wants nothing more than to be with you. I honestly can’t tell you how I ended up on the streets of Wakefield, but I know I am so glad to be off of them and in a warm comfortable home with humans.  I love humans.  I love their company, their conversations, to which I am a huge contributor, and of course…

Gypsy Angel is an Angel and More

Gypsy Angel Wants to Go Home with You

Gypsy Angel Wants Your Love and Affection Wait, why are you walking by my window?  I want to look at you.  You seem nice.  I know I am nice.  Don’t you think we would make a great pair?  I do.  Why not come inside and meet me?  I am definitely looking for a new home.  This cage at PetSmart is clean and safe, but that is about all I can say for it.  I am ready for a home of my own and you sure look like a good adopter.  You have a dog, you say?  No problem on my part.  Another cat?  Well, that depends.  We can discuss it. So my name is Gypsy Angel and I am a petite, medium haired, girl with a beautiful black coat and a fleck of white on my chest.  Very elegant, if I do say so myself.  Especially my fluffy tail, which I use to signal my …

Lowell Wants to Warm Your Heart and Your Neck

Sweet, Sweet Lowell is Cuddly, Playful, and Loving

Oooh, I like the looks of you.  I do, I do.  My name is Lowell and I am a young, sweet, and very unique looking cat who wants a new home and family.  And I think you might just be the one for me.  Well, to be honest, I have never met a person I did not like.  I am just a very, very, friendly guy. And, a really nice kitty, too. Maybe you are more picky than I am?  So, let me tell you about myself and then you can decide whether or not we are meant for each other.  (Of course, I am certain you will discover that we are a perfect match, but I am pretending to let you decide—wink, wink.) I am young and playful.  I love to play, especially when you dangle things for me to chase. I also love to play on my own.  Give me any little ball and I will…

Bella D is the Purrfect Tabby

Bella D is Seeking a Warm Lap

Bella D is my name and affection is my game.  At three years old, I am just getting started. I am a girl who knows what she wants, and what I want is to sit on your lap while you pet me.  If you ignore me, I will let you know with my very loud meow.  I don’t talk a lot.  But when I do, I make myself understood. I may sound pushy, but I am actually a very mellow feline.  Nothing bothers me and I love everyone and everything.  Ok, I did not appreciate being in a cage during adoption hours, but then I did not mind the hyperactive dog that came over to see me.  I even thought he might be fun!  As for not liking the cage, well, you can fix that by coming to adopt me so I don’t have to go there again.  I think that should be your plan. Besides …

Take Home A Real Sweetheart in Beary

Beary is Sweet as Honey

Adopt Beary  - and Take Home a Real Sweetheart Everyone loves me.  I can tell that because they all say how cute and sweet I am. Some call me a doll, which frankly, is not so appropriate since I am a dog and a boy one at that.  But they are right about me being special.  Who wouldn’t love me?  I am small in stature (the size of a very large cat) and big in heart.  I just love meeting everyone because I adore people.  I am always ready to play, to follow you around, to be your friend and to do doggie things with you.  Did I say that I love people?  I do. You may be wondering how a nice dog, like me, ended up homeless.  My story is sad, so you better sit down and pull out a hankie.  I was (and still am) very much loved by two wonderful …

Mitzi the Wonder Dog Wants to Go Home with You

Mitzi the Wonder Dog Wants to be Your Wonder Dog

Sniff, sniff… you smell good.  Can I come home with you?  I really want a home and even from here I can tell we are a match.  My name is Mitzie Horn.  I am a one-year-old black and white puppy.  I can’t give you a pedigree since I am a combination of things as you can see.  But I think I really turned out to be quite sleek, elegant and special… a one of kind. I am a very happy and friendly girl.  I have met one other dog here about my own size and I love to play and wrestle with her.  I also love to chase balls and play with stuffed toys.  I have a special toy I keep in my cage when I can’t be outside playing.  Outside is where I love to be.  I can run there and I do laps around the fenced in yard at the VCA Wakefield, where I am currently…

Red-Headed Freckles is a Sweet Young Boy right out of Mayberry RFD

Freckles is PAWS Pet of the Week

Red-Headed Freckles is a Sweet Young Boy right out of Mayberry RFD             I may look like a fiery red head, but believe me, I am as mellow as can be.  I was abandoned by my owners when they moved, but being so sweet, I found my way to some nice neighbors, who noticed I looked lost and forlorn, and rescued me.  Now I am at PAWS’ adoption center at the Danvers PetSmart.  Life here is ok, but, well, a sweet guy like me needs company.  This place sure gets lonely at night when everyone leaves and the lights go off.  Can you come adopt me?  I promise I will slide easily into your life.             As I said, I am the sweetest, mellowest orange tabby you will ever meet.  I love to curl up for naps—any cozy place will do.  If you want to …
