Law enforcement personnel from both Lynnfield and Wakefield joined colleagues in Boston soon after Monday's incident at Marathon finish line.
Law enforcement personnel throughout the region have been assisting their colleagues in Boston since Monday’s terrorist attack. In the Lynnfield Police Department, Chief David Breen reported that Officer Al Scotina was deployed by the NEMLEC SWAT Team, Officer Nick Secatore was deployed by the NEMLEC Rapid Response Team, and Officer James Caponigro was activated by the Army National Guard. “The Lynnfield Police Department wishes to extend its deepest sympathies and prayers to those affected by this horrific act,” added Breen in his announcement. Two-car accident occurred around 3:30 p.m. Monday.
A serious accident on Main Street in Lynnfield sent two motorists to area hospitals Monday afternoon. Rescue personnel extricated them from their respective vehicles and transported them to area trauma centers. Police scanner reports indicate two suspects caught after foot chase on Route 1 South in connection with car stolen out of Amesbury.
Area police were dispatched to the area of Route 1 South near Suntaug Lake on the Lynnfield/Peabody line Wednesday evening to search for two suspects in a vehicle theft, according to scanner reports. The two were caught after about an hour. The suspects were described as a male about six feet tall and 300 pounds, and a female in a gray hoodie and black yoga pants. Scanner reports indicated that footprints were visible in the snow near the shore of Lake Suntaug, and that a State Police K9 unit also responded while a helicopter was reported on the way. Suspect in Salem burglaries facing charges in Lynnfield for allegedly selling stolen jewelry at pawn shop in town.
A 25-year-old Salem man charged in connection with several burglaries in that city is expected to face two charges in Lynnfield after allegedly trying to pawn a number of items at Bay State Loan. John Mizioch, 12 1/2 Daniels Street, Salem, was arrested last week and charged in connection with the Salem burglaries. According to a Lynnfield Police report, Officer Ray Barnes went to the pawn shop last Tuesday, February 26th to assist Salem Police with their investigation. Remember - real government employees will never call you and ask for your Social Security number.
Lynnfield Police are warning town residents of a recent scam where people claiming to be from Medicare or the Social Security Administration are calling and asking for personal information. In a recent alert on their Nixle account, Lynnfield Police reminded town residents that if they receive such a call, to not provide such information. Employees of these administrations would never make an unsolicited call, nor would they ever ask for any personal information, such as Social Security numbers. Residents are also reminded that Medicare cards are free and are provided by the Social Security Administration when an individual becomes eligible for Medicare. At Wednesday night's budget summit, Police Chief David Breen said "I think it is time to start a discussion" about replacing the 50+ year old Lynnfield police and fire stations with a town public safety building.
The idea is still very much in the earliest stages, but Lynnfield residents may find themselves asked to consider a possible public safety building in town sometime in the next few years. At Wednesday night's budget summit, where various town department heads discussed their projected funding needs for the coming year, Police Chief David Breen suggested that it's time for the town to at least begin talking about replacing the current police and fire stations. During his own earlier presentation on the fire department's budget needs, Chief Joseph Lingel said that a new public safety complex in Lynnfield would be his "big wish" from a long-term budgetary perspective. Several thefts reported at Simply Self Storage on Broadway in Lynnfield over the past week. After surveillance, police arrest two and are continuing investigation.
Lynnfield Police arrested two men Thursday in connection with some recent thefts at a self-storage facility in town. Over the past week, several Lynnfield Police log entries have referred to thefts from units at the Simply Self Storage business located on Broadway. On Thursday, Lynnfield Police arrested 43-year old Eric Reeves of Peabody and 28-year-old Michael Miramaldi of Waltham on numerous charges after a short investigation. A full list of the charges appears at the bottom of this story. Lynnfield and Saugus police met during the week to set up surveillance at the business, where the thefts appear to have started about a week ago.
