Lynnfield Boys Soccer Eliminated From State Tournament

Lynnfield failed to take advantage of a steady wind in the scoreless first half. Georgetown scored twice in the second half to advance 2-0.

The Lynnfield High School boys soccer team made it to the MIAA Division 3 North final this year, losing to Georgetown 2-0. Last Thursday, the boys had a 6-1 win over St. Mary's in the semifinal game to make it into the final. The winner of this game, Georgetown, goes on to play the South division champ on Tuesday at Manning Field.

Three LHS Teams In MIAA Semifinal Games This Week

Volleyball, boys and girls soccer all had playoff victories this week.

Following their playoff victories earlier this week, three Lynnfield High School teams are now preparing for MIAA tournament semifinal games. Tonight at 7 p.m., the LHS girls volleyball has a home game against St. Clement, following their 3-0 win Monday night over Presentation of Mary Academy, which was also a home game. The winner of tonight's volleyball game goes on to play in the MIAA Division 3 North final on Friday night in Lawrence. On Thursday at 7:45 p.m., the boys soccer team plays a semifinal game against St. Mary's at Manning Field in Lynn. To get to this point, the boys beat Matignon 5-1 on Tuesday afternoon at Jordan Park in Lynnfield. If the LHS boys can beat St. Mary's tomorrow, they will be back at Manning Field on Saturday…

MIAA Tournament Action Continues This Week For Lynnfield

Lynnfield High School has a couple of MIAA tournament games to look forward to as the week gets underway. On Saturday, the girls soccer team beat Lowell Catholic by a whopping 10-1 margin, setting the stage for a quarterfinal game today on the road at 3 p.m. against Ipswich High School. The girls had earned a bye in the preliminary round with a 7-5-6 record. And on Sunday, the boys soccer team, which went 15-3 in the regular season, beat Newburyport 6-1 at Jordan Park after also earning a bye in the preliminary round. Their next game is Tuesday, Nov. 8 at 2 p.m., also at Jordan Park in Lynnfield. Lynnfield Girls Soccer Gearing for a Return to Playoffs

Lynnfield Girls soccer season ready to begin.

The Lynnfield girls soccer team suffered a cruel fate in the 2010 MIAA playoffs. The Pioneers made it all the way to the Division 3 North semifinals before bowing out to Ipswich in a 2-1 loss that featured nine rounds of penalty kicks. Coach Mark Vermont and the Pioneers core is back for another season, and this year they are looking to make it a step further in a run to the Division 3 North sectional title. “Every year I’d love to be in the North Semifinals with a shot to be in the North finals,” said Vermont. “Anything can happen as the season goes. With a young defense we are going to have some growing pains. But I think we are going to be in pretty good shape. We will see.” The goalie is the building blocks for a solid soccer team, and…
