During yesterday's storm, Lynnfield residents reacted to what they were experiencing.
It was a windy, rainy Sunday as Irene passed over New England. While it howled outside and crews worked to clear trees and power lines from the streets, Lynnfield residents weighed in on Facebook. Here's what they said: Jerine D Martin We have a tree down in our backyard. Ripped right out of the ground. Massachusetts residents whose property is damaged by Hurricane Irene may discover they’ll be paying more for repairs than expected. The Associated Press reports that most homeowner insurance policies include a deductible that’s typically $500 to $1,000, but out-of-pocket expenses for hurricane damages can be much higher. “In 18 states on the East and Gulf coasts, insurers are allowed to include hurricane deductibles in homeowners policies," the AP reported. "These amounts apply only to hurricane-caused damage, and typically range from 1 percent to 5 percent of the insured value of a home. Deductibles may be higher in some coastal areas. For example, a policyholder whose home is insured for $200,000 with a 2 percent hurricane deductible …

Hurricane Irene meant downed trees for Lynnfield.
Topical storm Irene brought trees, tree limbs and power lines down across Lynnfield Sunday. The calls began flooding dispatch before 8 a.m. with residents reporting trees and tree limbs down. Other residents called police to alert them of trees about to come down in the wind. As the wind picked up, more problem areas were identified, police said. "Today we have had downed trees and power lines on Salem St. to Witham St., Walnut St to King James Grant area (several streets) and Wing Rd. (damaged our radio repeater) and currently Archer Lane," Police Chief David Breen said. In the afternoon, crews removed trees from Grey Lane, Chestnut St. and Pillings Pond Road. The following was submitted by Lynnfield DPW: The towns' brush Recycling Center located behind Town Hall will be open to accept storm debris beginning Monday, August 29 at 8 a.m. for Lynnfield residents with current recycling stickers (color red) only. The center will continue to be open each day, Monday through Saturday (except Labor Day) from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. until Saturday September 10. After September 10, the center will resume normal operating hours of Wednesday and Saturdays 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Landscapers, tree companies, or commercial contractors WILL NOT be allowed to use the center regardless of where they are collecting debris. The Recycling Center will accept normal storm debris/brush/limbs but cannot accept tree stumps or logs …
