Lynnfield business donated a portion of Thursday's sales to local hunger relief organization.
On Thursday, Jeanne's Bakeshop, located in the Center Court shops across from the Old Meeting House and the Town Common, reported that it was donating a portion of the day's sales to Haven from Hunger, which provides food assistance to several nearby communities, including Lynnfield. In a followup email to Lynnfield Patch, Jeanne Barbaro reported that the bakery would be sending $75 to Haven from Hunger. Co-owners Jeanne and Joe Barbaro reportedly contacted the organization earlier this year and advertised it on their Facebook page while the promotion also ran on the Haven from Hunger website. Area business owners interested in doing something similar can inquire with Haven from Hunger at 978-531-1530.

The following was provided by the LHS Band Boosters: The LHS Band Boosters would like to thank everyone who supported the annual Pie Fundraiser. Not only did the event help raise money for equipment, repairs, etc for the LHS Pioneer and Jazz bands, but the group, through the generosity of the community, donated 55 pies to Haven from Hunger - a local food pantry in Peabody. On November 20th when the pies were delivered, Haven from Hunger had just completed distributing over 140 Thanksgiving meals to families and there was not a single dessert of any kind left in the pantry. The donated pies will be served on Thanksgiving Day as part of the pantry's meal service and remaining pies will be distributed to families at Christmas time. …

Organization provides food assistance to residents of Peabody, Salem and Lynnfield.
Over the past several decades, Haven From Hunger has been serving individuals in Peabody, Salem and Lynnfield who are in need of food assistance. Individuals residing in these three towns are welcome to come in to Haven From Hunger and apply for assistance. The criteria are similar to what those applying for state benefits would need to meet. Applicants must present a proof of residency and income, as well as a photo ID. If they have children, their birth certificates are also needed. In a recent interview with Lynnfield Patch, Haven From Hunger Director Alyse Barbash described how under the current economic conditions, it's not uncommon for more than 40 people to come to the group's Peabody headquarters for dinner. And even towns that are…
