There are several options available for people who want to start clearing out their mailbox.
One good thing about bulk mail is that unlike its distant cousin, the telemarketer, it can’t wake you up or interrupt your dinner. But that said, it does have a way of clogging up your mailbox in any given week with lots of paper and not necessarily much else of interest. So what can you do about unwanted bulk mailings? A call last week to the Lynnfield Post Office confirms that there is indeed a “Do Not Mail” list to go along with the “Do Not Call” list. The Federal Trade Commission has a page with various links for people to use, depending on what kind of mail they wish to stop receiving. For example, OptOutPreScreen.com, an official credit industry site, will allow you to stop receiving pre-screened credit and insurance-related offers. …

NSTAR is offering an online tool that shows where electric vehicle recharging stations are located.
Drivers who considering a switch to electric vehicles or current vehicle owners looking for a place nearby to charge their rides have a couple of places to find their outlet. This week, NSTAR launched a new hotline and website to provide customers with information about electric vehicles, including local options for charging, payment options and details about electric vehicle technology, according to a statement released Wednesday. According to the website, the closest electric vehicle charging stations in the Lynnfield area are at Ira Nissan Woburn close to the junction of Routes 93 and 95, and in town at Kelly Nissan of Lynnfield on Route 1 North heading toward Peabody. A local car wash has invested in efficient new technology, and so far, it's reportedly paying financial dividends as well as environmental ones. Bill Benedetto Jr., owner of Flo's Auto Bath on Water Street in Wakefield, reports that the new self-service car wash equipment gets the job done in less than seven minutes - compared to about 10 minutes on older equipment. Along with that, the new generation of car wash technology uses about a third the electricty, water, and soap as older machines, said Benedetto, who noted that the equipment is also made in the U.S. "Everybody's trying to do something.
