What's Your Favorite Christmas Song?

Christmas tunes are on the airwaves: tell us which songs get you into the holiday spirit.

Whether you love it, hate it (like Scrooge pre-transformation) or merely accept it as an unavoidable component of the holiday season, we at Patch want to hear your thoughts on Christmas music.  What's on your Christmas playlist? Does Wham's, "Last Christmas," make you break out in song and dance? Do you serenade your special someone with Mariah Carey's, "All I Want for Christmas is You?" Does The Pretenders', "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" get you into the holiday spirit? Or how about "Christmas in Hollis, Queens?" by Run-DMC? Artists have been releasing Christmas albums in recent months: Blake Shelton's Cheers, It's Christmas, has been on my iPod this week. Last year, we offered readers a poll to weigh in on their favorite songs…

On Saturday, the Lynnfield Historical Society holds the 50th annual Country Store event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Check out these photos taken over the decades at past events.

On Saturday before the town's tree lighting, the Lynnfield Historical Society will host the 50th annual Country Store event. Each year, fundraising event offers local residents a chance to get a jump on some holiday shopping with locally made items, in an old-fashioned country Christmas setting. To mark the occasion, Steve Richard of the historical society sent in these photos taken at various Country Store events over the years. Richard reported that the Country Store event started at the Old Meeting House in 1962, around the time the historic structure was renovated once it was no longer used as the town fire station. The historical society probably started a few years before that, he added. Anyhow - I'll go in to the Lynnfield Patch …

YOUR TURN: Real vs. Artificial Christmas Trees

Purists won't go near them, but for others, the thought of chopping down a tree - leaving needles, sap and leaking water in your living room - is not their idea of a happy holiday.  Despite the hassle, real trees outsell their artificial cousins by more than a 3-to-1 margin each season, according to the National Christmas Tree Association. Bear in mind, of course, artificial trees can be reused every year. Readers, what do you think? Are you undertaking the Griswold family tradition this year, or are will an artificial tree do the trick for your family?
