Registration Open for 46th Annual LAA Road Race

Annual July 4th tradition helps raise funds for Lynnfied High School athletic programs.

The following was provided by the Lynnfield Athletic Association:

The Lynnfield Athletic Association (LAA) has opened registration for the 46th Annual 4th of July 5K Road Race to be held on July 4, 2013, beginning at 9 a.m. and leaving from Town Hall located at 55 Summer Street.  All proceeds benefit athletic programs and scholarships at Lynnfield High School.  Participants can register on line through www.active.com ($15 for 16 and under, $20 17 and older) or print out an application and return by mail ($18 for 16 and under, $20 for 17 and older).  Individuals who register before June 22 are guaranteed to receive a t-shirt.

In addition to awarding several athletic scholarships to graduating seniors each year, the LAA provides other financial support by providing things like uniforms, athletic equipment, pins, and trophies given out during the year to student athletes.

Awards will be given out in a variety of categories:  Trophies or medals will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers in different age groupings.  The youngest runners are the 10 and under whereas the oldest runners are 70 and over.  Special recognition will go towards the event’s overall winners.  Lynnfield High School runners can also earn a first place finish.  The event features an awards ceremony, a DJ, a raffle and more.  This race accommodates the true competitors as well as those out for a leisurely run.  Sign up today!
