PHOTO: Heading To The Championships

Two Lynnfielders going to MIAA state championships for girls indoor track this weekend.

Lynnfield High junior Lexi Buonfiglio held a brief lead over rival Alexia Lipman before finishing a close second in the 1000-meter run at the Division 4 Indoor Track Championships with a personal best time of 2:57.89. Lipman, of Bromfield, won the race in 2:57.67.

Buonfiglio will run Sunday in the State Championships, along with Lynnfield senior Scout Benson, who qualified for the State finals in the 55mm High Hurdles with a fourth place finish. The top five runners in each race from each division qualified for the State Championships. Lynnfield runners who also took home medals in other events at Saturday's meet: Senior Hannah Adams took eighth place in the Shot Put; Benson finished 8th in the 300-meter run, and Angelica Kartounis, Abby Norwood Jr, Sammi Albanesse Sr, and Lexi Buonfiglio Jr. teamed up for a fifth place finish in the Girls 4x800 Meter Relay. Sunday's meet is also at the Reggie Lewis Center.
