Pioneers pitcher Melody Mancinelli struck out 16 as the Lynnfield High softball team beat visiting Nazareth Academy, 14-0.
Junior pitcher Melody Mancinelli was practically unhittable on Thursday, striking 16 as the Lynnfield High softball team crushed visiting Nazareth Academy, 14-0, on a windy Thursday morning.
Mancinelli struck out the side in three separate innings, and K'd four in a row to end the game. The junior also helped her own cause, racking up three hits and scoring twice.
"She's good," said head coach Peter Marinelli. "Mel's worked hard. She's pitched two good games so far. She pitched last week against Amesbury and only gave up two runs, and she's hitting really good too."

The Pioneers next take on league rival North Reading on the road on Monday at 3:45.
"It was a good win," said Marinelli. "Now we have to get back into the Cape Ann League and see if we can get a win in there. If we can't come to play on Monday, we've got a problem. We've got a tough game next week."
