North Shore Selkies Welcome New Coach

Area synchronized swim team has three members from Lynnfield.

The Northshore YMCA Selkies synchronized swim team is pleased to welcome new Synchronized Swim Head Coach Carrie Reynolds for the team’s 2013 season.

Ms. Reynolds has recently returned to the Boston area from a two year stint in Jamaica where she coached the National Synchronised Swimming Team of Jamaica, as well as a top synchronized swim club, the Synchro Stars.  In addition to coaching, Ms. Reynolds was a member of Jamaica’s Synchronised Swimming National Team Selection Committee and was named a member of Jamaica’s Synchronised Swimming Technical Committee, where she was in charge of Athlete Development focusing on improving the performance levels of Jamaican synchronized swim athletes.

Prior to coaching in Jamaica, Ms. Reynolds was in Massachusetts coaching the Cambridge Synchro team for a year.  This role was a sort of homecoming for her, since Reynolds swam for Cambridge Synchro for 10 years, assuming the role of captain for her last three years in high school.  Ms. Reynolds attended college at Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Missouri, on a synchronized swim scholarship for a year, and is now studying Exercise Science at the University of Massachusetts, Boston.

Those interested in learning more about the Selkies can visit with members of the team at either of two upcoming local appearances.  On October 6th, the Selkies will host a table at the Topsfield Fair from 10am to 8pm, where donations will be accepted for an upcoming raffle of a signed pair of sneakers belonging to Celtics star Rajon Rondo.  Then on October 20th, the Selkies will have a table at the Essex Clamfest, where Selkies cookies will be sold and an assortment of scratch tickets will be raffled off.
