The Northshore YMCA Selkies synchronized swim team is pleased to welcome new Synchronized Swim Head Coach Carrie Reynolds for the team’s 2013 season.
Ms. Reynolds has recently returned to the Boston area from a two year stint in Jamaica where she coached the National Synchronised Swimming Team of Jamaica, as well as a top synchronized swim club, the Synchro Stars. In addition to coaching, Ms. Reynolds was a member of Jamaica’s Synchronised Swimming National Team Selection Committee and was named a member of Jamaica’s Synchronised Swimming Technical Committee, where she was in charge of Athlete Development focusing on improving the performance levels of Jamaican synchronized swim athletes.
Prior to coaching in Jamaica, Ms. Reynolds was in Massachusetts coaching the Cambridge Synchro team for a year. This role was a sort of homecoming for her, since Reynolds swam for Cambridge Synchro for 10 years, assuming the role of captain for her last three years in high school. Ms. Reynolds attended college at Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Missouri, on a synchronized swim scholarship for a year, and is now studying Exercise Science at the University of Massachusetts, Boston.
Coach Reynolds brings many new ideas and a new energy to the Selkies, a team which completed its 2012 season with both junior and senior age group teams qualifying for the eSynchro Age Group National Championships in Oxford, Ohio. Coach Reynolds has strong support in her latest role from newly elected Selkies team captain Alyson Arsenault of Methuen and Co-Captain Madeleine Hines of Wenham, both among the most seasoned and well-respected athletes in the region.
