NBC is also planning to air a 45-minute report about the attack she suffered at the Lillyhammer Olympics in 1994 at the hands of rival figure skater Tonya Harding’s ex-husband and her bodyguard. Kerrigan, a two-time figure skating medalist, has rarely spoken about the attack in public.

According to NBC corresponded Mary Carillo, that attack and the aftermath “was the beginning of reality television.”

Kerrigan told 7 News that being attacked is not something you celebrate, and was reluctant to take part in the story but trusted that she would be treated fairly in the story.
