Grades 1-9: Interested In Synchronized Swimming?

North Shore Selkies, which has at least two members from Lynnfield, holds introductory clinic starting Monday at YMCA of the North Shore.

The following is an announcement from the North Shore Selkies Synchronized Swim Team:

On Monday, August 20 through Thursday, August 23, the YMCA of the North Shore Selkies will be hosting an Introduction to Synchronized Swimming Clinic for girls and boys entering grades 1-9. 

The clinic will run from 10:30 to 12:30 each day at the Sterling Center YMCA at 254 Essex Street in Beverly, Massachusetts.  The cost of the clinic is $130 for YMCA members or $180 for non-members.

At least two Lynnfield residents are members of the North Shore Selkies.

Participants in the clinic will get a chance to explore this beautiful Olympic sport that combines aquatic athletics with the artistry of dance and gymnastics.  The clinic will provide instruction in the development of basic synchro skills including eggbeater, verticals, sculling and ballet legs.  Swimmers will enjoy making new friends as they work together to perform a high energy routine.

For more information or to register, please contact Carol Meyer by phone at 978-564-3904 or via email at meyerc@northshoreymca.org.  Registrations will be accepted on the first day of the clinic, but unregistered swimmers should plan to arrive early so as to allow time enough to complete the registration.  Participants will need a bathing suit and 2 towels, along with clothing for dry land warm ups and stretching (shorts, t-shirts, shoes or flip flops).  Those who have nose clips should bring them, and swimmers should also bring a water bottle and a snack.
