For Whom The Cowbell Tolls!

Sometimes a team needs a boost in some shape or form to get them going in the right direction. This could be a pep talk from the coaches, an inspiring rendition of the national anthem or maybe something out of the ordinary, a cowbell perhaps? That's right, the Mite A Stars cheerleaders have introduced a cowbell into their bag of tricks. One man would purchase said cowbell and although he'll race into a burning building, he just couldn't bring himself to ring it at the game, fearing ridicule and scorn from the Triton parents. That's where the Mite A Stars head cheerleader would take over. Having no fear whatsoever, this man would ring that bell incessantly after every score by this group. Maybe it was this new sound coming from the stands that got the team fired up but most likely it was a great speech from their team captain, Mike Murphy. Murf got them going with a line from Ted Williams, "Just keep going. Everybody gets better if they keep at it". This team has taken their lumps for sure but they keep going! The first line of Timmy Sullivan, Jack Glowacz and Brendan Heffron was on fire today, accounting for all four of the Stars' goals. Some tough corner work by Heffron led to a sweet feed to Timmy for the one timer. Later, Glowacz would break free twice and put both home. To cap off the scoring, Sullivan would rush up the left wing, put a move on the Triton D and send it top shelf. Both Glowacz and Sullivan earned game pucks today for their efforts. The next line of Murphy, Dion Sacca and Stevie Migliero would find themselves in the Triton end almost all game long. The three of them were relentless in their attack and kept Triton on its heels. Sacca, playing his first game at center, made several key plays in the offensive and defensive zones. Murf sacrificed his body on a couple of occasions to prevent any penetration into the Stars end. Migliero continues to hustle and finds himself in the mix on every play. With newcomer Patrick Spychalski nursing a stomach bug, Joseph Soares and Abigail Travers would round out the forwards today. These two had their nose in almost every play including multiple scoring chances. Part of the reason why this team spent so much time in the offensive zone was due to some incredible Stars defense today. Paired up for the first time Cam Sullivan and Jimmy Driscoll worked their magic on the blue line to keep the puck in and help create some scoring chances. Jonathan Soares and Anthony Grabau both played an unbelievable game today as well, never giving up on a play and protecting their goalie. Speaking of goalies, they say that you have to have a little luck and a lot of skill to stand in net and face a hard rubber disk being shot at you at well over 7 miles per hour. James Glowacz had both today. The skill came when he piled up snow along the goal line unbeknownst to anyone in the arena. James knew though. He knew that a slow moving puck would have no chance to make it by the solid hill of snow he had created behind him. He also knew that if he stood his ground on the tough shots he gave his team a chance to win. Well, James didn't just give his team a chance to win, he stoned the Triton team for the first shut out of the full ice season. Another well earned game puck found its way into James' glove. So a big win goes in the books for the Stars. They worked their tails off today and look to continue this streak heading into the playoffs. There really is only one last thing that can be said about this game today, more cowbell please!!
