Several LHS Holiday Music Events Coming Up

Students will showcase their talents at several December events.

The following information was provided by the LHS Music Department:

On Monday, Dec. 12, the will host its annual choral Holiday Concert at 7:00 p.m.  Groups performing will be the 7th and 8th Grade Chorus and Pioneer Singers, both performing under the direction of Middle School Music Director Stephen Bloom, and the Lynnfield High School Chamber Singers performing under the Direction of High School Choral Director Douglas Hodgkins.  Choral selections will include both familiar and new holiday pieces, and the performance will conclude with a spirited audience sing-along of favorite holiday carols.  The concert is free, open to the public and known for inspiring holiday spirit and a strong sense of Lynnfield community.

Holiday Coffee House at LHS

The next Coffee House in the popular L.H.S. series will be a special Holiday Coffee House, held on Wednesday, Dec. 14 at 7 p.m.  This event will celebrate the season and the musical talents of Lynnfield High School students, and is sponsored by the Lynnfield High School Music Department.  Student performers will perform individually or in small groups, and performances will be a mix of vocal and instrumental performances.  Coffee Houses feature a warmer and less formal setting than can be found at other Music Department events, and offer an opportunity for students to perform music of their own choosing.

The Coffee House will be held in the high school cafeteria.  Admission is $5 and includes refreshments provided by Music Department students.  Proceeds from the event will be used to support Lynnfield High School Music Department programs.  Local residents are invited to attend and support local talent, while enjoying this fun and inspiring event.

LHS Winter Concert

On Wednesday, Dec. 21, at 7 p.m. the Lynnfield High School Music Department will present its annual Winter Concert, showcasing both its band and choral programs.  This year’s concert will be shorter than in years past, with fewer groups performing.  Choral groups featured will be the Concert Choir, the Women’s Choir, and the Chamber Singers, all performing under the direction of High School Choral Director Douglas Hodgkins.  Choral selections performed will include a number of familiar as well as new holiday and non-holiday pieces.  Bands performing under the direction of High School Band Director Thomas Westmoreland will include the Pioneer Band and the Lynnfield Youth Music School Percussion Ensemble. 

The concert will be held in the High School Auditorium and is free and open to the public.  Local residents are encouraged to attend what will surely be an enjoyable and festive evening.
