The 9th annual OD’s memorial Run/Walk took place on Sunday, September 30th at Lynnfield High School. Despite the rainy conditions, over 200 people gathered at LHS to participate in this memorial event, either as runners, walkers or volunteers. Johnny “OD” was a graduate of Lynnfield High School’s class of 2003 and dedicated three sport athlete. Johnny passed away unexpectantly in December 2003. A number of Johnny’s former classmates, teachers, friends and family members joined in the event to honor his memory.
Strong support was received by both the LHS cross country track and girl’s volleyball teams. The event also drew a number of Lynn and Lynnfield residents. Proceeds from this event ( over $4,000), will directly benefit the John O’Donnell Memorial Scholarship Fund, which awards scholarships to graduating members of Lynnfield High School.
The overall winners of this year’s race were Marie Norwood of Lynnfield, winner in the female division (time 24:04) and Aaron Baldwin of South Hamilton in the male division (time 17:31.) A number of Lynn and Lynnfield residents s also received medals in their categories. Please find complete results posted on www.coolrunning.com.
