LHS Senior Samantha Knee Earns Superintendent's Award

Knee received award Tuesday night at school committee meeting.

senior Samantha Knee received the Massachusetts Association of School Superintendents' Certification of Academic Excellence Award at Tuesday night's school committee meeting.

Lynnfield's superintendent of schools, Dr. Thomas W. Jefferson, presented Knee with the award at the start of the meeting, citing her 4.75 GPA in all honors or AP classes, as well as her overall top ranking in her class.

Along with her academic accomplishments, Knee has played on the basketball, lacrosse and soccer teams as well as being captain of the winter and spring track teams. She is also active as a volunteer and student government member, serving as secretary and publicity coordinator for the Habitat for Humanity Club as well as secretary for the class of 2012 and as student council representative.

Other awards Knee has received are the Honors World History Award, Honors Geometry Award, Honors English Award, Honors U.S. History 1 Award, AP Biology Award, AP U.S. History Award and the Harvard Book Award, as well as a nomination for the National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine.
