LHS Cheerleaders Car Wash Moved To Sept. 25

Car wash to run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at town's south post office parking lot.

Note: The following is a reader-submitted announcement:

The rain and wind of hurricane “Irene” forced a re-scheduling but failed to dampen the enthusiasm and resolve of the Cheerleaders who are putting a green spin on the traditional car wash they are holding to raise funds for their 2011 competitions. The new date is September 25th, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at the South Lynnfield Post Office.

According to newly elected captains Giana Grimaldi, Giavanna Pezzulo, and Bridget Yahoodik, the team opted to be a more environmentally aware with the products they will use during the car wash.

“We made a special online order of Simple Green car wash, we’re using re-purposed tee shirts and towels, as well as recycled paper towels because it’s better for us, it’s better for the cars and it’s better for the environment. Green products cost a little more, but it’s important to us as a team,” they said.

The cheerleaders are raising funds to offset the fees for the music and choreography that are crucial to winning competitions. Fees can run over $2,000.

In 2010, the Lynnfield Cheerleaders won the MSSAA (Massachusetts Secondary School Administrators Association) competition.

A $5 donation will get your car clean, help to maintain a better world, and hopefully get the LHS Cheer Team back into the championships.  New coach Courtney Whitaker pointed out that dirty cars can help Blue and Gold Cheerleaders make Green,  at the South Lynnfield Post Office from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on September 25, behind the fire station/post office.
