Flamingo Flocks Spotted In Lynnfield?

Three Destination Imagination teams set to travel to Knoxville for Global Finals in May. Want to help them out? Arrange to have a flock of flaingos land on a friend's or neighbor's lawn...

The following is an announcement from Lynnfield's Destination Imagination Teams:

Flocks of bright pink flamingos have recently been spotted at various homes in Lynnfield.  These exotic plastic lawn ornaments have been showing up overnight only to disappear and display themselves elsewhere in town the next day.  Apparently they arrive at the request of friends of the family living at the in the homes in question.

Flamingo Flocking is a current fundraiser being held by Lynnfield’s Destination Imagination teams.  Destination Imagination (DI) is a non-profit organization that fosters creative problem solving and teamwork.  Every year, there are 250,000 students across the U.S. and in more than 40 countries that participate.  This year three Lynnfield teams (21 Lynnfield students) advanced from local and state tournaments earning the right to represent Massachusetts at the Global Finals in Knoxville, Tennessee.  The Lynnfield DI community is working hard to raise approximately $24,000 needed to send all three teams to Knoxville.

Residents are encouraged to “flock” their Lynnfield friends, neighbors, etc. for $20 donation to Lynnfield DI.  Upon receipt of the order form and donation, DI team members (accompanied by an adult chaperone) will secretly place a flock of flamingos on the “victim’s” front yard.  The birds will “roost” in the yard for no more than 24 hours

For residents wishing to prevent the Pink Flamingos from landing in their yards, “Anti-Flocking Insurance” is available for the simple $15 donation to the Lynnfield DI organization.  This insurance will guarantee that a flock will not take up residence in specified yards during the 2012 season.
