Soapsuds, sunblock, and hundreds of supporters were the keys to success on last Sunday for the Lynnfield High School Cheerleader’s car wash. A steady stream of well-wishers drove in with road dirt and drove out with a sparkling clean machine.

“With donations of over $900.00, from the large number of people who took time out of their busy schedules to help, we are so much closer to our goal.  Our skills as car washers may not compare to professionals, but the generosity of the community helps with expenses and inspires us in our competitions.  A big cheer and our heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to make our fundraiser a success.”

Days after their successful car wash, the girls followed up by going to the LAA 5K road race on July 4th, where they sold refreshments and Pioneer stadium seats to raise some additional funds. The following announcement came in from the squad on Thursday, July 5:

The early morning downpour did not deter the Lynnfield Athletic Association, the Lynnfield High School Cheerleaders and scores of intrepid runners from the 44th Annual 4th of July 5K Road Race on Wednesday.

Under umbrellas and rain gear, LHS Cheerleaders and LAA organizers set up early but by the time runners left from Town Hall at 9:00 a.m., the deluge was a mere drizzle and the sun was breaking through as the last racers crossed the finish line. At their very festive booth, Cheerleaders offered complimentary coffee to all in attendance. The girls brought baskets of baked goods and in a display of optimism, had fun, flag-shaped 4th of July sunglasses for sale.  As part of their fundraising efforts, the girls also applied patriotic tattoos to kids of all ages.

The LHS Cheerleaders would like to thank the LAA for donating  the ever-popular, Lynnfield Pioneer stadium seats for the girls to sell and for allowing the cheerleaders to be a part of the festivities.

They would also like to congratulate the runners on their impressive showing and thank everyone in attendance for their continued support.  The $168.00, raised at the 4th of July road Race will be used to offset costs of music and choreography used in competitions.
