State Bill For Local Road Funds Heads To Senate

House legislation would provide Lynnfield about $406K for upkeep of local roads.

The following is an announcement from the office of Rep. Brad Jones, Jr.

State Representatives Bradley H. Jones, Jr. (R-North Reading) and Donald H. Wong (R-Saugus) are pleased to announce that the Town of Lynnfield will receive approximately $405,915 for the maintenance and upkeep of local roadways.

Passed by the House of Representatives, An Act Financing the Improvements to the Commonwealth’s Transportation System calls for the state to apportion $200 million to cities and towns for the maintenance and upkeep of existing infrastructure for the upcoming fiscal year.

“The House of Representative has taken the crucial step in allocating funds for the maintenance of roadways across the Commonwealth,” said Representative Jones. “By providing Lynnfield with the resources to maintain the town’s roadways, we will not only invest in ailing infrastructure, but in driver safety.”

“By affording our communities the opportunity to invest in their existing infrastructure, we have taken the crucial step in allowing municipalities the opportunity to focus their budgets on vital services,” said Representative Wong. “I am pleased that the House of Representatives were able to come together in a bipartisan fashion to ensure that the needs of the taxpayers remain first and foremost.”
