Selectmen Ratify Agreements With Three Town Unions

Town Administrator Bill Gustus reported at this week's meeting that consensus also exists with two other unions, and talks still underway with two others.

The Board of Selectmen ratified agreements with three of the seven town employee unions at this week's meeting.

Town Administrator Bill Gustus reported that the town had reached consensus with the library, police and custodian/bus driver unions for three-year contracts providing 2 percent raises each year. He added that the overall financial impact on the town was within the amount approved at town meeting.

For the other unions, Gustus added that there are another two where members simply have yet to ratify their deals.

Selectmen voted separately to ratify each of the three union deals, with Tom Terranova casting dissenting votes each time to emphasize his support for a level-funded town budget. Selectmen Dave Nelson and Phil Crawford voted to ratify the three accords, which each passed 2-1.
