RMLD: All Power May Be Fully Restored To Lynnfield Today

As of 9 a.m. Wednesday, only about 16 RMLD customers remained without power.

The Reading Municipal Light Department, which serves a substantial part of Lynnfield, reported early Wednesday that its crews were making faster progress than predicted in restoring power to customers - and could even wrap up that task by today.

Community Relations Manager Priscilla Gottwald reported that about 150 customers in its entire service area were without power as of about 9 a.m. - and only about 16 of those customers were in Lynnfield.

Of course, individuals who had their electrical wiring actually pulled off of their home during the storm will most likely require additional time to have service restored until an electrician and wiring inspector can get to the scene.

In the immediate aftermath of the weekend snow storm, as many as 7,000 RMLD customers were without power. On Monday, about 700 Lynnfielders remained without electricity, prompting town officials to establish an emergency shelter at the Lynnfield Senior Center and to also postpone Halloween trick or treating until this Sunday, November 6th.

Crews from other towns, including Danvers, Taunton, Middleton and Wakefield have been working 7 a.m. to midnight to restore power to the service area. Tree crews from Vermont and Maine have also been working in the local area in the aftermath of the storm.

Meanwhile, a check of the real-time data provided on the National Grid website appears to show no remaining outages in Lynnfield for customers of that company - although there is still an outage on Lynnfield Street in Peabody affecting at least 19 customers. A swath of Lynn affecting more than 800 customers near the Lynnfield was also shown to still be without power early Wednesday.

Not far north of Lynnfield, customers in nearby towns were not nearly as fortunate. A large swatch of seemingly countless blackouts is visible on the website starting around Wilmington, Andover and Lawrence and heading over to the Merrimack Valley region and Southern New Hampshire.

A check with Lynnfield Town Hall found that no residents opted to take shelter at the senior center. However, those without power or who are facing other unsafe conditions should contact the at 781-334-9410.
