Miller Will Not Run For Town Moderator Again

Town Moderator David Miller announces he will not seek re-election in 2012 local election.

Town Moderator David Miller announced this week that he will not seek re-election in this year's elections.

"I do not intend to stand for re-election as Moderator in the forthcoming 2012 elections.," sad the incumbent this week in a brief announcement to local media. "I would like to hereby express my appreciation to all who have supported me during my tenure as Lynnfield Town Moderator."

After an uncontested town election last year that town-wide, this upcoming vote will also see Select Board Chair Arthur Bourque decline to seek re-election. Board of Assessors Chair Dave Nelson has already announced that he will run for the open selectman seat in 2012.

For those interested in running to replace Miller as town moderator, it will be helpful to become very familiar with Robert's Rules Of Order, which establishes the parliamentary rules and procedures used at town meeting.

"The biggest challenge facing the moderator is to try to convince more people to come to town meeting," he said last spring .
