Selectman Bob MacKendrick announced at the end of Monday night's meeting that he will seek re-election to a fourth term in this spring's town election.
"I think there's a lot going on and a lot of things that are going to come to fruition in the coming years," said MacKendrick, who indicated that this would likely be the final term he would seek.
Not long before MacKendrick made his announcement, he and select board colleague Dave Nelson voted to leave Al Merritt's seat vacant until the town election - largely because if a special election were to be held, it would be wrapped up only a month or so before the April town election. MacKendrick also noted that a special election could cost the town up to $10,000.
So far, Finance Committee Vice Chairman Phil Crawford has announced his candidacy for Merritt's former seat.
