Local Legislators Announce State Aid Increase for Lynnfield

Higher state revenues credited for aid increase.

Senator Katherine Clark and Representative Donald Wong announced that Lynnfield will receive more than $60,000in additional local aid. The additional funding was included in a supplemental budget package passed by the legislature.

“As we see revenues improve, I am delighted that we can now send additional funds to our local communities,” said Senator Katherine Clark. “Lynnfield will greatly benefit from this funding to support critical local services and programs.”

“We are very fortunate that the town of Lynnfield will be receiving additional local aid from the supplemental budget. This money will enhance services in the community, and help to keep the programs that are already in place up and running,” said Representative Donald Wong.

“We are quite pleased with the efforts of the legislature for providing this additional aid. We were not counting on it, but it certainly will help us maintain the level of service we have provided over the last few years,” said Town Administrator William Gustus.

This announcement comes after the Massachusetts Department of Revenue reported revenues up 9% or nearly $178 million for the month of September.  The Revenue Commissioner has attributed this growth to higher than estimated income tax cash estimated payments and withholding collections.
