LETTER: Tom Kennedy Running for Lynnfield Selectman

Tom Kennedy, an 11-year Lynnfield resident who works in the financial industry and who has been active in various town activities, is running for selectman in this spring's town election.

The following letter was provided by Lynnfield selectman candidate Tom Kennedy:

I am writing to announce my candidacy for selectman for the Town of Lynnfield.  I intend to run for the one year seat vacated by Al Merritt in the upcoming April election.

Like many people in town, my wife Lori and I moved to Lynnfield when we decided to start a family and have lived here for eleven years.  We have 2 children, a 6 year old in kindergarten and an 11 year old at the middle school.

Lori and I have been active in town activities including t-ball, girl scouts and the sub-committee on fundraising for new playing fields.

Growing up in Lynn, I attended public school in grades K through 8, graduated from St John's Prep in 1989 and the Carroll School of Management at Boston College in 1993, with a degree in Finance.  For the past 19 years I have worked in the finance industry and currently work for Canaccord Genuity as a Principal in Institutional Equities.

I have been an active participant in town government meetings and feel at this time the town could use a new voice with a fresh outlook to represent the people of Lynnfield.  Having a financial background and a clear vested interest in both the current and future direction we take, I believe I could add value to the board.  I have made friends from many different backgrounds and feel this will be my greatest resource to make sure we are secure heading into the future.

I would appreciate your consideration in the April election.

Sincerely,
Tom Kennedy
