UPDATED: Hurricane Sandy Will Not Affect Trick Or Treating In Town

In light of a storm cleanup effort that was going smoothly on Tuesday, town officials have indicated that conditions should be just fine for trick or treating tomorrow night, October 31st.

Last year's Snowtober storm saw trick or treating moved back a week to early November because of the number of wires down on the streets, among other hazards. This year's storm was formidable in many ways, but the week of rain over the North Shore that some forecasts called for apparently isn't going to happen.

While trick or treating is a go for Halloween 2012, the town noted in a separate announcement that trash collection for the week will be delayed by a day.

Below is the full text of a statement provided Tuesday afternoon by the Town of Lynnfield on conditions for trick or treating:

"Town offices and departments have received several inquiries about the status of Halloween trick-or-treating due to the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. While trick-or-treating is not a Town-sponsored event, the Town is advising residents that there are no major Town-wide safety issues that would require the postponement of trick-or-treating. Parents, however, should use their own judgment about any safety issues in their neighborhoods. Town officials are working with local utility providers to deal with power outages and safety conditions."
