Arthur Bourque To Run For Town Moderator

Current moderator David Miller announced this week he will not seek re-election. Bourque announced intent last year not to run for selectman again.

Lynnfield Board of Selectmen Chair Arthur Bourque announced this week that he will run for the town moderator position to be vacated this year by David Miller.

After last year's uncontested town elections in April, Bourque indicated that he would not seek re-election as a selectmen, suggesting then that it's time for some "good young people to seek office in this town."

So far, board of assessors chair Dave Nelson has announced his intent to run for the selectmen's seat that will be vacated by Bourque.

"Dave Miller is to be thanked for his many years of service to the town.  We would be hard pressed to find anyone that has served in as many capacities as he has over the past thirty years," said Bourque in an email to local media. "He is certainly a distinguished member of the Lynnfield community and deserves our thanks for all that he has done."

Bourque added that he will formally announce his candidacy for town moderator in the coming days after he submits the required nomination paperwork.
