Area Residents Invited To Discuss Budget Issues

State Senator Katherine Clark among those hosting town hall forum Thursday in Stoneham.

The Stoneham School Committee along with State Senator Katherine Clark, State Representative Jason Lewis and State Representative James Dwyer will host a Town Hall Forum on the FY2012 budget with a presentation from Michael Widmer, President of the Massachusetts Taxpayer Foundation. 

The Town Hall-style community forum will be held on Thursday, February 10, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at Stoneham High School to discuss the state of the economy and its impact upon state and local budgets.  A presentation will be done by Mr.

“Communities continue to struggle through this serious economic crisis," said Senator Clark. "It is important for state and local officials to remain focused on the latest information concerning the economy and our state budget. This forum provides an opportunity to work together to find solutions that will benefit our constituents during these tough times.”
 
“Our communities all benefit from sharing ideas and ways to navigate through the ongoing fiscal crisis facing our state and municipalities,” added Rep. Lewis.  “This Town Hall Forum will provide local officials and residents a great opportunity to do this.”  

Communities that are being invited include Lynnfield, Malden, Melrose, Reading, Wakefield, Winchester and Woburn.

The Massachusetts Taxpayers Foundation is a non-partisan public policy organization that specializes in analyzing state and local fiscal, economic and tax policies.  The event will feature remarks from Mr. Widmer, followed by a question-and-answer session.  The event is free and open to the public.  Stoneham High School is located at 149 Franklin St. Stoneham.
