Amazing Trees Of Lynnfield Contest Getting Underway

Nominate your amazing Lynnfield tree for this year's contest.

In the continuing effort by the Lynnfield Tree Committee to bring awareness to the public about the importance trees bring to our lives, the committee requested that trees have their own day at the .

The library went a giant step further and devoted a week during the February school vacation, the Children’s Room held a special tree story time and arts and crafts session.

Librarians Pam Griswold and Laura Bruynell read books with specific themes concerning Tree Science, Fruit Trees, Our Own Giving Trees, and Trees of Peace. Their paintings and decorative trees were then presented to the committee. Throughout the month of March the donated artwork created by these young listeners is on display at the library front foyer.

Joining the Children’s Room contributions’ in the foyer is the kick off to the Amazing Trees of Lynnfield Contest. The Tree Committee is confident the contest will be as successful as last year. March is the month to nominate your most amazing tree in three categories, Favorite Shade, Most Unusual, and Best Climbing.

Submission forms are available at the Conservation Commission office, the library and post office. A tree can be entered on-line using a simple form on the Lynnfield town web site where you can also view last year’s winning trees. Participants from last year were able to show us how much trees are the best connection we have to nature. Send us a picture or story and Win-A-Tree this spring at our annual Arbor Day celebration on May 7th.
