Veteran Lynnfield Fire Fighters Honored For Their Service

Three department members receive service awards from the state's Fire Service Commission.

The Lynnfield Fire Department held its annual Relief Association Dinner and Meeting last week at Angelica’s Restaurant in Middleton on Wednesday November 2, 2011.  Many members of the department were honored for their service to the Lynnfield Fire Department.  Invited guests many retired members of the Lynnfield Fire Department as well as active duty members.  Several active duty and retired fire chief’s from Lynnfield and surrounding communities were in attendance as well. 

Three members of the department received Service Awards from the Massachusetts Fire Service Commission for their many years of dedicated service to the fire department.  Those honored were Captain Joseph Lingel, forty years; Firefighter John Perkins, 30 years; Firefighter Harry Coukos, twenty years.  Also honored was long-serving retiree former Chief Francis Lennon who retired in 2011 after 45 years of service. “These men deserve a tremendous amount of credit for their years of dedication and service,” said Chief Thomas Bogart.

The Lynnfield Firefighters Relief Association was incorporated by the Secretary of State of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts on August 30, 1966.  The Lynnfield Fire Department has been in continuous existence and service to the town since 1904.
