Summons Issued After Police Chase

Beverly man eluded Peabody Police Tuesday night, knocked over stop sign in Lynnfield while passing through town.

Peabody Police apparently caught up with the motorist who eluded them Tuesday night in a pursuit that briefly went through Lynnfield.

A police log entry on reports that police in that city issued a summons to a 23-year-old Beverly man for numerous violations. The report says that the incident began when police pulled the car over on Route 1 South, only to have the driver speed away as the officer approached.

The pursuit, which occurred , saw Lynnfield and State Police also searching for the vehicle, which was believed to be heading toward Route 129 and Wakefield.

While fleeing, the driver knocked over the stop sign at the intersection of Summer and Salem streets in Lynnfield. From there, he was seen heading toward Route 128 North.

Later, the man was summonsed for: driving with a revoked license, driving recklessly to endanger, a marked lanes violation, speeding, failure to stop for police, and failure to use care in operation.
