Soon-To-Be Member of Lynnfield Police an LHS Grad, USMC Vet

Later this year, town resident Steven O’Connell is set to become the newest member of the Lynnfield Police Force.

Earlier this week, O’Connell was at the selectmen’s meeting, where they voted to approve his appointment. O’Connell graduated from Lynnfield High School in 2002 and enlisted in the Marine Corps in 2004, going on to serve two tours in Iraq.

“One of my goals as chief was to hire quality people who epitomize what I believe police should be,” Lynnfield Police Chief David Breen told the selectmen.

In a follow-up email, the Chief said that O’Connell is currently a student officer who is expected to finish his police academy training in November.

“I’ve wanted to be a police officer since I was a young kid… I’ve served my country now I want to serve my community,” O’Connell told the selectmen.
