Police Log: A Well-Rounded Mix Of Public Nuisances
Assault with a deadly cell phone, the vanishing fighting men, construction dumping and a 16-year-old joy rider.
Lynnfield Police responded to these and other calls for service the week of March 14-20, 2011:
On Monday, March 14 at 5:58 a.m., a caller reported that they struck a deer near the middle school. The deer apparently ran off.
At 8:01 a.m. and 8:52 a.m., police responded to burglar alarms.
At 9:34 a.m., a citizen walked in to report an assault incident.
At 3:11 p.m., there was a report of two men fighting on North Broadway. Police were unable to locate them.
At 4 p.m., police assisted with a dwelling lockout on Suntaug Street.
At 7:20 p.m., an open door was reported on Main Street. Police secured the door of the house, which appeared to be unoccupied.
On Tuesday, March 15 at 6:48 a.m., police initiated a selective traffic enforcement action in town.
At 12:08 p.m., a letter carrier reported an open door on Longbow Road. A resident who was thought to be on vacation turned out to be in the yard.
At 1:07 p.m., there was an alarm activation on Perkins Lane.
At 1:08 p.m., a caller reported a confused looking elderly man walking down Salem Street. Police located him and confirmed he lives nearby.
At 2:51 p.m., a motorist reported a vehicle operating erratically on South Broadway.
At 4:50 p.m., a Cortland Road resident reported their recycling bins had been stolen for the second time in a month.
At 5:19 p.m., a motorist reported a black van was dumping debris at the end of Moulton Drive. It turned out to be plumbers, who ended up removing what they had dumped.
At 5:40 p.m., a caller reported that a black Dodge Ram had dumped plywood at the end of Carter Road. Police were unable to locate the vehicle.
At 5:42 p.m., a suspicious auto was reported on Pillings Pond Road.
At 7:17 p.m., police responded to a disturbance on Brook Drive.
At 7:54 p.m., a citizen walked in to report an odor of gas in the area.
At 8:51 p.m., police responded to a disturbance at Bali Hai. There, they arrested Elizabeth Means, 65, of Lynn for assault with a dangerous weapon (cell phone) and disorderly conduct.
At 10:29 p.m. a caller reported a suspicious auto on Brook Drive. It turned out to be a motorist with a flat tire.
At 11:06 p.m., a burglar alarm activated at Yankee Candle. Building was secure.
On Wednesday, March 16 at 7:03 a.m., police responded to a noise complaint on Salem Street involving workers on a job site.
At 7:34 a.m., a caller reported a blue tarp in the road on Route 1 north.
At 8:40 a.m., a citizen walked in to report a fraud incident.
At 5:27 p.m., police assisted with a lockout on Ross Road.
At 7:23 p.m., police took a phone report involving threats and harassment.
At 9:28 p.m., police responded to a burglar alarm at Yankee Candle.
At 10:41 p.m., police assisted a motorist who was lost.

On Thursday, March 17 at 10:42 a.m., a 55 gallon drum was reported in the road in the Route 1 South tunnel.
At 2:46 p.m., there was a motor vehicle accident on Main Street.
At 2:49 p.m., a caller reported a youth operating an ATV on Longbow Circle. Police were unable to locate him.
At 3:36 p.m., police took a report of two men fighting on Salem Street. They could not be located.
At 5:15 p.m., a caller reported a suspicious person on Hidden Valley Road. It turned out to be a man walking his dog in the woods.
At 6:42 p.m., police arrested John Jackson, 50, of Danvers for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, subsequent offense.
At 7:30 p.m., a caller reported a past breaking and entering/larceny incident.
On Friday March 18 at 7:24 a.m., there was an alarm activation at Sagamore Spring Golf Club that was set off by workers.
At 10:34 a.m., a resident complained of an unwanted party in the Post Office Square area.
At 2:14 p.m., there was a burglar alarm activation on Taylor Terrace.
At 3:18 p.m., a caller reported his son had told him a group of youths were going to destroy a treehouse in the neighborhood. Police were unable to locate the youths.
At 3:21 p.m., there was a report of a disabled auto on Condon Circle, although it was not located.
At 5:15 and 6:10 p.m., police responded to burglar alarm activations.
At 7:44 p.m., a caller reported an individual driving an ATM on Edward Ave. Police spoke with him.
At 9:01 p.m. police issued a summons to Rodney Arias, 21, of Lawrence for operating on a revoked license, speeding in violation of a special regulation, and a seatbelt violation.
At 9:35 p.m., Bali Hai requested an officer over a customer who was causing a problem.
At 9:45 p.m., there was a hit and run accident on Edgemere Road. Police arrested a 16-year-old from Peabody for using a motor vehicle without authorization, leaving the scene of an accident with property damage, and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
At 10:30 p.m., police dispersed a gathering of youths on the railroad tracks behind Lynnfield Middle School.
At 11:21 p.m., a noise complaint came in from Parsons Avenue.
On Saturday, March 19 at 1:46 a.m., a small campfire was reported in the woods off Phillips Road.
At 2:47 a.m., a motorist struck a deer on Salem Street near the Ninety-Nine.
At 3:55 a.m., a burglar alarm went off at Bank of America at Post Office Square.
At 3:35 p.m., police performed a well-being check on Salem Street.
At 4:50 p.m., there was a motor vehicle accident at Donovan's Liquors on North Broadway.
On Sunday, March 20 at 9:05 a.m., there was a report of an erratic operator on Route 1 North. State Police were informed.
At 3:22 p.m., a suspicious auto was reported on Munroe Street. Police were unable to locate.
At 4:45 p.m., police took a walk-in report involving threats.
At 7:42 p.m., a suspicious auto was reported at the Colonial.
