Mailboxes Blown Up

responded to these and other calls for service on Monday, June 4 and Tuesday, June 5.

On Monday, June 4 at 1:09 a.m., an accidental burglar alarm went off at the Wakefield Elks Club.
At 8:25 a.m., police were informed that a trash receptacle had again been pushed down the stairs at the . Extra patrols were requested.
At 10:40 a.m., an Upton Lane resident called about cars speeding down the street.
At 6:25 p.m., a Locksley Road resident reported that youths had put some firecrackers in his mailbox.

On Tuesday, June 5 at 11:33 a.m., an officer went to because of an issue with a student.
At 2:23 p.m., police took a report of check fraud from the Lynnfield Mobil station.
At 5:59 p.m., a Stafford Road resident reported his mailbox had been blown up. An officer recovered a bottle of rubbing alcohol at the scene. The officer also noted that the neighbor's mailbox had also been targeted for detonation, but it just had a white residue on it as opposed to structural damage.
At 7:37 p.m., a restraining order violation was reported. Police issued a summons to a 37-year-old Melrose man for violating an abuse prevention order.
At 8:42 p.m., an accidental burglar alarm went off at the headquarters on Lynnfield Street. The building was unoccupied at the time. An unoccupied white van was also noted in the lot.
