Colclough was in the country on a religious mission.

A Lynnfield native who went on a religious mission in Nicaragua has been found dead.

Karen Colclough was last seen Friday. Her body was found near a resort and authorities had a suspect in custody, according to the Boston Herald.

Colclough lived in Wyoming and was in Nicaragua as a member of Argos International, which helps poor families in rural Latin America. Colclough's parents live in Lynnfield, according to the Herald.

"We are devastated to learn of Karen's passing and extend our heartfelt condolences to Karen's parents, family and her remarkable circle of friends—all who love her deeply," Argos said in a statement posted on its Facebook page.

Argos said Colclough's group had completed its work and was staying at the Barcelo Montelimar—a beach resort near Montelimar—when she went missing.
