Lynnfield Fire Chiefs Visit Senator Brown

Bogart, Walsh among dozens of Mass. fire officials who made recent visit to Capitol Hill.

Note: The following is an announcement from the Lynnfield Fire Department:

Lynnfield Fire Chief Thomas Bogart and Assistant Chief John Walsh met with U.S. Senator Scott Brown recently when they visited the senator’s office in Washington DC during Congressional Fire Services Institute. 

They were part of a contingent of fire chiefs from across the United States, including over 80 from Massachusetts who went to the nation’s capital to lobby for congressional support of the Fire Act Grant and the SAFER Grant.  These federal grant programs give money to fire departments to purchase equipment and hire firefighters.

Last year the received $94,000 to purchase personal protective gear for members of the fire department. 

During their visit to Brown’s office Chief Bogart and Assistant Chief Walsh met with Brown staffer and Lynnfield native Shae Fitzpatrick.  They also met with met with Congressman John Tierney during their stay in Washington.
