Lynn PD Seeks Info In Fatal Hit And Run

Hit and run driver left 68-year-old woman dying on Lynnfield Street, fled in dark, newer model SUV with rounded shape toward Lynnfield.

The Lynn Police Department is asking the public for help in solving a fatal hit and run incident that left a 68-year-old woman critically injured in the middle of Lynnfield Street near Union Hospital. She had been attempting to cross the street at the time.

The accident occurred on Wednesday, Jan. 11 at about 5 p.m. The pedestrian, Luyiza Polak, died at Mass. General Hospital nearly a week later, on Tuesday, Jan. 17.

Police indicated that after the pedestrian was run down, the suspect fled toward Lynnfield and the nearby routes 1 and 128.

A statement issued by Lynn Police Lieutenant Christopher Kelly indicated that the department is currently seeking out any available video that can be located, and is pursuing all other leads as well.

Since the accident occurred during the rush hour, police believe that there are other motorists out there who witnessed the incident.

"We are hoping anyone who saw something will come forward," said Lieutenant Kelly. "Even little bits of information can be helpful."

The fleeing vehicle was described as a dark colored, newer model, SUV-type vehicle with a rounded shape.
