Longtime Lynnfield Crossing Guard Dies At Age 87

Doris Gaythwaite spent 41 years as Lynnfield crossing guard and traffic supervisor for town police department.

Several generations of people who went to school in Lynnfield may recall Doris Gaythwaite, the town native and longtime crossing guard/traffic supervisor for the Lynnfield Police Department.

She was married to her husband John for 68 years and died on Sept. 9, 2011. She started as a crossing guard in the 1960s and stopped less than a decade ago.
