Local Police Sent to Boston After Terrorist Bombing

Law enforcement personnel from both Lynnfield and Wakefield joined colleagues in Boston soon after Monday's incident at Marathon finish line.

Law enforcement personnel throughout the region have been assisting their colleagues in Boston since Monday’s terrorist attack.

In the Lynnfield Police Department, Chief David Breen reported that Officer Al Scotina was deployed by the NEMLEC SWAT Team, Officer Nick Secatore was deployed by the NEMLEC Rapid Response Team, and Officer James Caponigro was activated by the Army National Guard.

“The Lynnfield Police Department wishes to extend its deepest sympathies and prayers to those affected by this horrific act,” added Breen in his announcement.

In Wakefield, Lieutenant Craig Calabrese told Patch.com in an email that the department currently has four of its staff members who were sent to Boston after the Monday afternoon bombing. The four are among the department’s representatives on the Northeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council, which provides public safety support throughout the region.

Lieutenant Steven Skory reportedly worked with the incident mangement unit in Boston, Officer David Rando was with the motorcycle unit, Detective Ken Silva was with the bicycle unit, and Officer Kristopher Malm assisted with the communications unit.

Update: Reading Patch Local Editor Ashley Troutman reports that Reading Police officers Mike Fitzgerald, Mike Lee and Matt Edson were deployed in Boston all of Tuesday. The officers were deployed by the NEMLEC RRT (Rapid Response Team) to assist with security.
