Kilroy Family Thanks Community for Support at Funeral

Funeral held last week for longtime Lynnfield firefighter and Center Water District employee.

Last week, members of the Lynnfield and Wakefield fire departments were among those who turned out for the funeral of Arthur W. Kilroy, 76, a Lynnfield resident who spent 25 years in town as a call firefighter and who was also a Korean War veteran and a former treatment plant operation with the Lynnfield Center Water District.

The full text of Kilroy's obituary can be viewed at this link.

Soon after the funeral, this website received a note from Arthur Kilroy's nice, Kathie Kilroy-Moran, who wished to pass on a note to the community from her father, Michael, who was Arthur's brother.

Below is the text of her email on behalf of Michael Kilroy:

"I would like to express my gratitude to all the good people who participated in my brother's funeral procession, and Mass. The Lynnfield and Wakefield Police and Firefighters were just amazing with their show of respect for a fallen comrade. The Last Recall by the Lynnfield Firefighters turned even the most stoic among us into blubering babies. The Military members who awarded the flag to his widow were most professional and touched all hearts. As the reluctant patriach of this clan; I would ask my family and friends to say a heartfelt prayer for them all."

Editor's Note: As noted in Arthur Kilroy's obituary, Memorial contributions may be made to the Kaplan Family Hospice House, 78 Liberty St., Danvers, MA 01923.
