Fat Cactus Shooting Apparently Tied To Domestic Situation

Investigation still underway after weekend incident on Route 1.

A shooting that sent two people to Mass. General Hospital around 1 a.m. Saturday morning at the Fat Cactus in Lynnfield was apparently connected to a domestic violence situation.

A man and a woman were transported to the hospital by Lynnfield rescue units after the shooting, which occurred in the parking lot of the Route 1 Mexican restaurant and bar.

Police Chief David Breen told Lynnfield Patch this week that the wounded man was an innocent bystander, and that both individuals had injuries that were not considered life-threatening. Neither victim is a resident of the immediate local area.

While Lynnfield Police have indicated that domestic violence appeared to be a factor in the shooting, there is still an active investigation underway that has resulted in the names of the victims not being released at this point.

There have been no arrests at this point, although police apparently have some information to work with.
